Schedule of Events

The Arenzville Burgoo is generally scheduled on the Friday and Saturday FOLLOWING Labor Day. For 2015, the dates of the celebration are expected to be September 11th and 12th.

Preparations begin long before this, and volunteers are particularly welcome on Thursday (Sept. 10th) to help clean and prepare fresh vegetables for the soup.

More information about the schedule of events will be posted here when it becomes available (usually in early August.)

Burgoo kettle service (sales of soup in quart-sized or larger containers) begins at 7:00 a.m. on both days. Kettle service is usually suspended in mid-morning. Lunch lines began forming around 10:30 for soup sales by the bowl. Food line sales continue until the soup runs out, usually around 7:00 p.m. If you are driving from a distance to get burgoo, please note the above times so you will not be disappointed.

Entertainment at the Arenzville Burgoo is free. Seating is by general admission (there are no reserved seats). The Village of Arenzville sponsors this event for the community and sells burgoo (soup), grilled pork chops and steaks, hamburgers, cold drinks, and homemade pies and cakes. Proceeds from these sales help support community activities.

Connecting with Friends

Connecting with friends at the Burgoo? Few people have been successful getting a good cell phone signal while in the middle of town (something about the burgoo vapors...) You can always leave a message at the Information table in the park, but otherwise, you'll have to rely on the good ol' fashioned method of face-to-face conversation.
